James & Harrison -

Thanks, fellers! Excellent contributions to the post.

I agree whole heartedly with you about your new site. I was a frequent visitor before and since you've redesigned, I'm there even more frequently. From an outsider's perspective I can tell you guys that it just feels...well...right, now. Especially since I'm getting to know your personalities a bit more. It's got yours stamped all over it. Branding...fersher.

Funny you should mention Emeril. He was actually cooking up a Cajun Charfish the other day. I called my lawyer and we sued him for millions. MILLIONS!

Take care, guys! Thanks for the discussion.

Can't forget about the name, either. Everyone does a double-take when they see Men with Pens for the first time. It's funny, they laugh at themselves and go "OH! Ok, I thought it said something else for a minute there..." And they remember it.

The same with Charlie's site here. Charfish? What the hell's a Charfish? Is that the dinner you left a little too long on the grill? Did Emeril come up with a new Cajun recipe? Or is it some obscure breed of fish found only in the remote areas of the Amazon?

So, you wonder how Charlie came up with the name, you ask him about it, you start corresponding, and the next thing you know, you're hiring him for a job.

Rock on, Charlie, excellent post.

Back in November, no one was talking about branding. Then someone went, "Oops," and now it's one hot topic - one that is continually misunderstood. But one that is vital to better business.

Case in point, our old blog. It was okay. Nice. Clean. The colors were yellow and pale blue. Meh. The banner was... well, okay. But pale. Something was missing. The blog's image didn't fit us. It didn't fit how we felt, how we behaved, our personalities, our levels of professionalism, our quality... It just didn't reflect US.

Enter Men with Pens (the dot ca folks, not the dot com). It's edgy and slick and cool and smooth and damned professional, too. It's competence and skills and expertise in a leather jacket and sneakers. It stands for everything we are. It feels good, it fits right.

And people remember our image and who we are: "Hey! I know you! You're the guys with that great website! Oh wow, this is so cool... wait, don't move, let me call Martha. Martha!! Those GUYS are here! Hurry, come see!"

Okay, well, not quite like that, but close.

Ahhh, branding.
